Freedom Cries Heard by the Great I AM

By dlmorris

Four hundred years. It took 400 years for God to hear the people’s cry, and we complain when we don’t get an answer within 24 hours! (Although many people think the Israelites lived as slaves 400 years in Egypt, it was actually much shorter. The 400 years started sometime during Abraham’s life – and possibly the night God told him his offspring would be slaves for a period of time.)

Exodus 2 says the people groaned because of their slavery and cried out for help. It doesn’t even say they cried out to God. It just says they cried out to be rescued, and God heard.

Sometimes, all we can do is cry out. We’re not certain what the problem is, and we definitely don’t know the answer many times. The reality is it does not matter. God knows, and He hears our cry for help.

The Bible even says the Holy Spirit helps us when we don’t know what to pray – Romans 8:26-27. The amazing thing is God’s answer to their prayer paved the way for all people to be blessed through the ultimate Passover Lamb who died once and for all.

I hope you don’t have to wait 400 years for an answer, but remember, when you cry out to God, He hears and He answers – in His time, in His way, and for your ultimate good.
