A Perfect Creation Ruined By Sin

By dlmorris

You think you know a story until you try to recount every single detail. At least that’s what happened when I started writing the summary for Set A – “A Perfect Creation Ruined by Sin” which is now available on The Bible from A to Z website @ https://thebiblefromatoz.com/a.php! The set covers Creation, The Fall, and the first murder found in Genesis 1 – 5.

I had developed a way to remember the days of creation to help teach our kids:

  • Day 1: use one finger to turn on an imaginary light
  • Day 2: separate two fingers to represent the sky or the Heavens
  • Day 3: three rhymes with land, seas, & trees (to represent all plants)
  • Day 4: use four fingers for the sun, the moon and all the stars
  • Day 5: spread out all five fingers to look like feathers and fins for the flying creatures and the sea creatures
  • Day 6: use the pointer finger to point out all the land animals, other people & self
  • Day 7: use two fingers to represent God taking His position on the throne as King of His earth

Working on this Set reminded me how much more the first five chapters of the Bible include beyond the seven days of creation. In them, we read about the first sin, the curses given to the serpent, Eve, and Adam, the first three baby boys, the first murder, and the connection between Adam and Noah.

We also learn of the death sentence facing every human because of our sin nature which prevents us from coming before a holy God. How awesome that we also read about the one who will bruise the head of Satan.

Although the first five chapters never mention the name of Jesus, He is there. We know this not only from the first verses of John’s Gospel but also from the whole picture of redemption we have once we read the Bible from beginning to end. He is the one who will defeat Satan and death and break the chains of sin. He is the one who will take the punishment for our sins and make a way for us to enter the eternal Kingdom.

Those first five chapters set the stage for the epic battle between good and evil played out on every page of the Bible and still being played out in this world today. What grace God gives to reveal His plan of redemption at the very beginning and enable us to follow the revelation of the Promised Savior all the way to eternity. What grace and encouragement to know, without any doubt, Who will reign victorious for ever and ever!

Join The Bible from A to Z as we follow the Promised Savior and the plan of redemption from “in the beginning” to the Lamb standing before the Throne of Zion!
