So how do I share this?
I first used the ABC’s in 2014 for the outline in our children’s church curriculum. I used them the following year for a two-week mission trip and a summer reading program at the local library and more recently in an ongoing weekly Bible study with a couple of families.
Which bring us to the question – How do you share the same 26 accounts in such vastly different time frames? The answer in in the groupings. We covered the same letter for two weeks in children’s church for one year – 26 letters x 2 weeks each = 52 weeks or 1 year. During the mission trip and the reading program, I grouped the letters into about 10 groups, and we covered a group each session. You can’t cover every single account in the Bible in these cases. You just have to pick based on the audience. On the other hand, we covered each and every account of the Bible chapter by chapter in the weekly family Bible study and used the ABC’s to review.
The point is, the students heard the message of the Bible from beginning to end by the time we were done in the shorter time frames. Now they can dig in deeper, such as the weekly Bible study, with a better understanding of the “whole picture” in mind. You know, kinda like knowing Moses is going to have to go rescue Joseph’s family from slavery in Egypt and realizing God had it planned all along…
Here’s the concept: As they read the account of Joseph with the future in mind, I pray they see God working in his life and realize He is actually working in their lives the same way. Knowing what is coming often reveals a much deeper meaning to events we would often pass over otherwise. In other words, as they discover these “extra” nuggets of truth, it will only make them want to dig deeper for more treasures in His Word.
The Bible A to Z website already has the sets divided into groups based on time frame with each group having a different theme – such as the 5 W’s of Jesus for a week. Once we cover the ABC’s week by week, we’ll “release” the weekend time frame in time for the Thanksgiving weekend, the month for Advent in December, and the year starting in January. You can even invite the neighbors over for a monthly celebration that coincides with the month’s holiday and share the next segment of the story. It will all be on https://TheBibleFromAtoZ.com/.
But for now, come back tomorrow so I can tell you a little more about the site mentioned above and the idea I have to make sharing this amazing message super easy!
